Daniel Joseph Hogan, s demographer and sociologist of international recogntion, passed away in the early hours of April 27, 2010. Founder of the Center for Population Studies (NEPO), was also a researcher at the Center for Environmental Studies and Research (NEPAM) and professor at Institute of Philosophy and Humanities (IFCH). Held the position of Post-Gratuate dean at Unicamp from 2002 to 2005, was president of Brazilian Association of Population Studies (ABEP) and was a member of Brazilian Academy of Sciences. His research focused the relations between demographic dynamics and environmental change. His most recent works were related to the human dimensions of global environmental change, on which he was leaning with a thematic project at FAPESP Climate Change Program.
As a way of tribute to his scientific contributions in the population, urbanization and environmental change fields, this event will be dedicated to his memory in order to perpetuate the scientific knowledge he has always been dedicated.
